John Paul II hosts and runs three major events during which community members are invited to support the school.
Guardians Gala, honoring each year a national person who has worked to uphold our Church.
In 2010, we honored George Weigel. Over 450 people attended the inaugural gala, held October 14, 2010, at San Fernando Cathedral and the AT&T Community Centre.
In 2011, we honored Karl Keating, on Thursday, 22 September 2011. The event began with Mass at San Fernando Cathedral, celebrated by our own Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S. The Gala followed after Mass at 7:00 p.m. in the adjacent AT&T Community Centre. Mr. Keating signed books. The school council and parents group jointly sponsored this event. A live auction concluded the event.
In 2012, we hosted a state-wide event, honoring the three persons in charge of the 1987 Papal Visit to Texas. The gala honored Msgr. Larry Stuebben, Sister Charlene Wedelich, and Robert Aguirre, and was an official event within the Archdiocesan 25th anniversary of the visit of our patron to Texas.
Catholic Life Insurance Raffle
Each year, Catholic Life has sponsored a raffle for Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. They donate all the prizes ($20,000, or a new car) and print all the tickets and posters. Our only work is to sell the tickets -- this is done through our families, during the September through December timeframe.
The Blue & Gold Drive, our annual fund drive, with the Blue & Gold Dinner
In the spring, from the Feast of Divine Mercy to 25 May, the anniversary of the opening of St. Joseph's Chapel, we run our annual fund drive, at which we ask our community to consider giving an annual financial gift to the school. This time is kicked off by the Blue & Gold Dinner, an evening event.
