Beginning of the Year Events

The 2016-17 School Year is fast coming to bear -- we hope and pray that all are ready for the school year.

Prayer
First, and foremost, we hope that all will continue to lift up our students, teachers, and families in prayer, that we may be ready for the many challenges to grow, that we may have all the resources we need, and that all our kids will stay safe and whole during the coming year.

Summer reading?
Have you been completing the required reading and assignments?  If so, you will have a solid start to the year.  If not, it's hard to have a successful first quarter and even first semester.

Dates to plan for
1 August - Fall athletics get started with practices: volleyball, cross country, cheer, drumline, and football

8 August - Teacher inservice starts
9 August - Offices closed for teacher retreat

Wednesday, 10 August - New Parent Orientation Night, 6:45 p.m.
• This evening is designed to give new parents a crash course in all the tasks, guidelines, and events for the school year.  This usually lasts until 8:15 p.m.

Monday, 15 August 2016
First day of school - student retreat and all-school Mass.  Students wear Blue & Gold dress (jeans, tennis shoes, JPII shirt), with the blue John Paul II shirt (shown at right).  We start the day with retreat activities, and then provide a pizza lunch and Mass in the afternoon at Blessed Annunciation Parish.

Monday, 15 August 2016
Back-to-School BBQ: a not-to-miss event!  A free dinner, and a chance to connect with old and new friends, prepare for the new year, sign up for events, and get going.  Parents, be saved from having to cook dinner!  Bring the family out and enjoy good food with all JPII families.

This is one of four dinners we hope to have 100% of our families in attendance.

8 a.m. start to school - full uniform, full class schedule.

DON'T FORGET!
• Emergency contact form must be in on day one of being on campus (practices on 1 August or 15 August for school start)
• Immunization record must be up-to-date and on-file.  The school office has contacted all for whom the records are not up-to-date.
• 2015 All School Activities Program ads are being sold at this time.  Help us create the best book to-date!  Do your part.
