Cross country meet – a call for canopies!

Next week Saturday, 27 August 2011, we will be running a small cross country meet on our 53 acre site. We need to borrow from our families as many pop-up canopies as possible. Starting tomorrow, through Wednesday of next week, we are asking to have families bring in these canopies as they drop off students in the morning.

These will be used to create a scoring area, and define check-in and check-out areas.

Please let Mr. Iliff or Mrs. Sullivan know that you are willing to share one of these items, and drop it off at your earliest convenience in the front office. Please label it well.

Blue & gold passes on Friday?

Using a planner is a pivotal skill for all students to have as a habit for organization and planning. Yesterday, I visited all classes in the afternoon to check to see who was using their planner well. By well-used, it means that all assignments (whether completed already or not) are written in, that quizzes and tests for later in the week are listed, and that it is out, open in front of the student at all times.

This morning, I followed up and hinted that possibly I would make a stop through the school with Blue & Gold Passes. Many of our students had complete planners, and as such, have Blue & Gold dress tomorrow Friday. They need to present their passes to their first period teacher.

The committee planning the event is always in need of persons to volunteer and help out. Our next meeting is Wednesday, 24 August 2011, 6 p.m. in the teacher workroom. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year!!

Parents and students can begin logging in today. A few notes: If you are a new family, on that log-in page is a separate link to create a new log-in. The system knows persons via an email address, so if your email address is receiving our newsletters, it is in our system, and you will be able to create a log-in. For those returning parents, the system has your previous information, but you need to be sure to log-in from the new web page. IF YOU HAVE ISSUING LOGGING IN, CALL THE SCHOOL.

Back-to-school night – Monday, 22 August 2011 – 6:30 p.m.
Next week Monday, we are adding another beginning of the year event for parents, a Back-to-School Night. The evening will begin at 6:30 in the media center. I will give a brief presentation, and introduce teachers. Then, starting at 6:50, parents will be able to go to all of their student’s classes for ten-minute sessions. The teachers will review the class, the material to be covered, and the basic expectations. We hope this will be another way to communicate well with our families. Hope one or both parents can attend!
