•••• Updates for Week of 29 October 2012 ••••

Homecoming: The week of fun and community is here – please refer to the web site for all the forms and instructions and times. We would especially invite all parents and families to be on campus for the tailgate party on Friday afternoon, which starts with the pep rally at 2:15. Bring appetizers for the tailgating – buy your freshly grilled hamburgers and sausages, and drinks in special JPII stadium cups. AND don’t miss out on the chili cook-off and powder puff games on Saturday. Invite some friends!

All Student Activities Program: We have been rolling out over the past few days the workings for an all-school program. The program we are planning will be sold at all school events (sports and fine arts), and will feature ads from businesses and families AND pages created to highlight all student activities from this year (and the second half of last year). So there will be pages highlighting our choir, the basketball team, the drama department, cheerleading, swimming, football… We will try to capture all student activities. What we are asking is that all families work to sell one page, whether through purchasing a family/tribute ad, selling to local businesses, or a combination of both. (Even better will be to sell multiple pages.) All funds raised will go back to supporting student activities in this school year. Please head to the school web site to learn more and find out all that you need to know. We are looking to December as the first distribution.

College fair!!!!: REMINDER – HUGE COLLEGE FAIR, this Thursday, 1 November 2012, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s University. Our school participates in a private school consortium that puts on this college fair each year. Over 150 schools! Later this week, we will have a map of the lay-out of the room, so a family can plan where to go. Best instruction: GO EARLY – 6:30 p.m. By 7:15, the room is packed.

Thursday's Mass: We will be celebrating Mass on Thursday, 1 November – ALL SAINTS DAY, 9:15 a.m. Next week, we move back to Wednesday Masses.

Sweater Special Order.: By popular demand – a new sweater is being ordered – a ¼ zip sweater, (cotton with some nylon) in navy blue, black, or charcoal grey, sizes XS-2XL. See the order form on the web site. Pre-pay, pre-order only. Orders due by Wednesday, 7 November; will arrive in time for Christmas. Note: A new set of track jackets has been ordered already, and will be here in a few weeks.

Junior Class Ring order forms: Today, Matt Grochett from Herff Jones was here, and distributed to all juniors ordering information for class rings. They will be back in two weeks to start taking orders, and will size rings then.

Need HELP!!!! The Superintendent has asked us for help again: to host the principals of the Archdiocese at their annual retreat. The date is Friday, 30 November. We need help gathering snacks and breakfast items, and help serving them. The retreat will be on campus. Please contact Mr. Iliff if you can help. He will create a Please Bring It list again, that will list all the needed/desired items.
