BLUE OUT! This week Thursday, 6 September 2012 is a busy and fun day for all Guardians! It will be a Blue & Gold Day -- we ask all to wear blue shirts in solidarity. At the close of the school day, we will have a Pep Rally. The JV and Varsity Volleyball teams will be in action at 4:30 & 6 p.m. at the Clemens HS Old Gym, and across the street, the Varsity Football team opens their season at 7 p.m. against Giddings. It will be a No Homework Night, to encourage all to attend. Remember: no charge for students to attend games.
25th Anniversary Dinner Tickets!: Have you bought your table or tickets to the Mass and Dinner celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Papal Visit to Texas? We are eleven days away, and we are still in need of filling the room. Have you forwarded the email to friends and family? Have you kept the event in your prayers? Click here to go to the web pages for the event.
Senior Parents: Through the generosity of Knights Council 4183 in New Braunfels, our seniors all have a seat the dinner. We ask that all students in the Class of 2013 make plans to attend both the Mass and the dinner to follow. If a student needs help with transportation, please let us know.
Note that evening will be a no homework night for students.
School Photos This Wednesday: We will be using a new photo service – Sam’s Photography – this year, and they will be taking photos of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on Wednesday, 5 September in the morning. Sam’s will be set up by 7:15, and begin taking photos as students come in. They will take photos through the rest of the first hour of the day. Once the photos are ready (about a week), they will have a proof and an order packet to send home. Sam’s does all of the high schools in Comal County.
They will also be taking the athletic team photos. A pricing envelope will be sent home with each athlete a week prior to the respective picture day; money & envelope to be turned in on that day. • Monday, 10 September - 4:10 p.m. - football team & individual pictures • Monday, 17 September - 4 p.m. - volleyball team & individual pictures • Thursday, 27 September - 4 p.m. - cross country team & individual pictures
Senior photos will be taken on Wednesday, 17 October, with graduation gowns and hats, etc., using Sam’s.
Parent Meeting MONDAY, 10 September, 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. Mr. Iliff will have a number of updates, and Mrs. Strickland will have a college counseling update. She will have a short review for each grade level, so that parents understand where they should be in terms of college planning.
Student Release Times: Regular school release time is 3:30 p.m. and in most cases, students are ready to go at that time, should a parent be ready to pick students up then. The bell schedule has been posted on-line for all to see and know when classes change.
A few weeks ago, that normal dismissal was not the case. On Friday, 17 August, at the close of our first week, we had a pep rally in the cafeteria to celebrate a good first week. Unfortunately, the activity that the student government planned ran long, and I made the decision to keep going. For some parents there to pick up students at 3:30, this was an inconvenience. I apologize for this. We will work to not run over dismissal in the future during pep rallies, to include this week Thursday, 6 September. Thanks for your understanding.
