VOLUNTEERING FOR DINNER EVENT

Annually, we ask our sophomore class to help with the serving at the Guardians Gala.  The reason is three-fold:

a.  Many of the attendees are not parents, and this gives them an opportunity, however limited, to interact with our students.
b.  We have service hours as a part of our expected school program. This is an opportunity to get some of those hours.  
c.  We are raising money at the dinner, and it saves money.  It is a way for our students in a sense to give to the effort to run the school.

This year, the gala is Wednesday, 27 September 2017.

 Wednesday, 27 September 2017 - 6 p.m. Mass with Bishop Boulette, Father David Garcia, and Rosemary Kowalski -- event attendees include many Archdiocesan officials, including the Superintendent.
 Dinner to follow celebrating the 1987 Papal Visit to Texas

• Since there is a lot going on this year/week, we are going to open up the volunteering to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.

From that group, we are hoping to find, 25 to 30 students who can help.  We get that those who have practices cannot, or other responsibilities, cannot.  Seniors are invited as guests of the school - in a sense as a thank you for their years of volunteering for these types of events.

Our choir will be singing at the Mass.

The scope of the work is as follows:

• San Fernando Hall (two blocks from San Fernando Cathedral)
231 W Commerce St, San Antonio 78205

• Wednesday, 27 September

• No homework night; 2:00 dismissal that day.

• Black pants, white collared shirt, dark shoes (that day is a special dress day for Homecoming Week)

Arrive at the hall by 4:30 p.m. We will be running a bus from school at 3:45 p.m. to take students to the hall; the bus will return them to school.

We will provide a pizza dinner, and the bus should be back to school by 9:30 p.m. or so.

All volunteers (servers & choir) will receive a Blue & Gold pass & a Free Dress pass for use later in the school year.
