At JPII we have partnered with Industry and Universities to provide a robust offering of college level courses, most of which qualify as dual college credit. The courses are all offered on our campus and our outlined below.
St. Mary's University
St. Mary’s University and SJPIICHS have had a very successful relationship over the last six years. Currently, the school offers eight different dual credit courses, all taught on the SJPII campus by SJPII teachers. As a part of the program, each semester, St. Mary’s professors come to the school to deliver lectures and consult with the school. And each school year, SJPII students visit the St. Mary’s campus to sit in on classes, and visit with department members.
The University of Texas at Austin, Cockrell School of Engineering
SJPIICHS has added another dual credit and university-partnered course for engineering. Engineer Your World has been designed by the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, is fully supported by a member of the department, and includes two course offerings for students to encounter engineering at a high level in high school. The second semester course gives students the option for dual credit with UT.
Amazon Future Engineers Program
The school is pleased to be in the second year of their relationship with Amazon, and their Amazon Future Engineer Program. Amazon sponsors a three course sequence of computer programming courses at the school to encourage students to tackle programming at introductory and advanced levels. The capstone course is AP Computer Science; all of the courses are hosted on online platforms. Currently the school has a dedicated STEM instructor, with advanced degrees in the field, to lead the program.
