Social Media Announcement:
We are excited to bring social media to St. John Paul II Catholic School. With any new advancement, new policies must also be put in place. We would like to share with you our philosophy and policies of our social media use.
We believe that Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter can be positive and cost effective ways to spread the mission and message of JPII into our larger community, which includes parents, grandparents, friends, future students, alumni and potential benefactors. We also believe parents also enjoy seeing a glimpse into the many wonderful happenings in the school. Our hope is that the use of social media will also help strengthen the foundation of family, fellowship and pride within our school as well as showcase our school to the community at large.
We ask that each parent and/or student that has a social media account to please follow us. This is not only a way to witness the mission being carried out, but also a very cost effective, efficient way for our network of parents to help support and grow awareness of JPII. Every time you like or share a post, the reach is exponential and because of that, we would truly love your support on our pages. We also humbly ask you to invite your network of friends to follow our pages. Again, a simple, yet highly effective way to spread the message of JPII.
Facebook will not be used for weekly or daily news. All pertinent school information and news will still arrive via newsletter or text blast. Large community events and fundraisers will be posted as “events” on our social media sites to insure community awareness and grow outside participation.
The safety and dignity of our students and school are of utmost concern. We will work insure our posts are in congruence with our mission and demonstrate our core virtues. And while it can be difficult to avoid capturing certain people’s faces in group pictures, we understand that some parents are not comfortable having their child’s picture posted. If you prefer not to have your child’s picture posted or used in marketing either in print, video, or social media, you fill out and sign the “opt-out” form that is went home with the Student Handbook. This form must be on file with the front office.
All posts will be done by school administration. No outside person will be allowed to post directly to our sites. In keeping with this protocol, if you have a picture or event that you are interested in posting, you may send the school a private message through the site and the request will be reviewed and posted if approved. You may also email Kim Gonzalez, Director of Advancement, with any questions and/or suggestions at [email protected]
