•••• Updates for Easter Weekend 2014 ••••
Pray a novena as a community: In thanksgiving for the many graces received over the life of the school, and for the life, work, and example of Saint John Paul II, we are joining together as a school to pray a novena leading up to the Canonization Mass on Sunday, 27 April 2014. The novena comes from the John Paul II Foundation. Each day in the afternoon, we will send an email and text to access the novena prayers on our web site. We hope that all will take the time during the next nine days to pray for our school and our patron, for the continued growth of our school, for our fundraising efforts, and most importantly for our students and graduates, for their safety, for their formation, and for their vocations.
Canonization Mass: Please, we need to be there en masse! Sunday, 27 April 2014, 3 p.m. at Holy Spirit Church in San Antonio. We have been asked by the Archbishop to participate in the Archdiocesan observance of the Canonization of Pope John XXIII and John Paul II. Bring the whole family!
Special Week: The student council has a special week planned for our students this coming week, in celebration of the canonization. Look for an earlier email describing the week.
Inclement weather make-up day!On Easter Monday, 21 April 2014, we will be having school. We are being required this school year to make up days lost to bad weather. That day will be a regular school day.
Blue & Gold Dinner:Congratulations to our Blue & Gold Dinner Committee, through their hard work and ingenuity, they were able to raise over $58K that evening, more than doubling past years' totals. AND they succeeded in creating a “Live!” event, giving us all a fun night out and the opportunity to support our school. You all have set the bar high for 2015!
We succeeded in fully funding the establishment of a drumline for 2014-15. The equipment order has been placed and will arrive before the end of the school year. Those who are interested in establishing this group will start their work this summer! Drumline will be a fine art credit bearing activity, in the same way that participation in One-act Play or Spring Plays have earned students fine arts credit.
