• No school on Friday • Fan bus on Friday to Shiner–Departs campus at 1:50 p.m.
Students interested in riding out to Shiner for the volleyball game at 5 p.m., and the football game at 7:30 can sign up on the counter. The bus should arrive back at school by 11:30 p.m.
OLPH PARENT HELP: We have an 8th grade tour this week on Thursday with OLPH. We are asking for help from OLPH parents to be here on campus during Mass and the tours, 8:30 – 11:30. Please call the school office, if you can help.
Pack the Gym: On Tuesday, 16 October 2012, the volleyball team has their final home regular season game vs. Halletsville Sacred Heart. We would like to pack the gym full of students and parents. We will run the bus over to the game site (Dobie Gym) from the school, for those who need it. JV plays at 6 p.m., and varsity at 7:15 p.m. Given that the next day is the PSAT, it is a no homework night.
Senior Night: Tuesday, 16 October 2012, we will have our first ever Senior Night, honoring the parents and athletes in the Class of 2012 in cross country and volleyball. At 7 p.m., we will be recognizing our two cross country senior athletes and our three senior volleyball athletes. Please come to recognize these students and families for their contributions.
End of quarter: We will be ending the first quarter next week Tuesday.
PSAT: The PSAT will be given on Wednesday morning, 17 October 2012, here on campus. We will have Blue & Gold dress that day. Students will report directly to testing rooms and test from 8:10 through 11:30. Note parents: students absolutely need to arrive on time, and should not miss the morning due to a doctor’s appointment (barring emergency). There is no make-up date or test for the PSAT.
Founders weekend: Are you ready for Founders Weekend? Friday, 2 Nov. and Sat., 3 Nov.
Knights of Columbus Supreme Council Scholarship: We wanted to share a scholarship opportunity with senior families. The National Knights of Columbus organization has scholarships for students, with two qualifications for applying: students must be attending a Catholic university, and their fathers need to be registered Knights. Time to apply is now. Read more and apply at the below site. Apps. due: 1 March. http://www.kofc.org/un/en/scholarships/index.html
Freshman class student council elections: Nomination forms are available to freshmen this week. Freshman class student council elections will be held next week Thursday and Friday.
College fair: Reminder that one of the largest college fairs in the area is being held on Thursday, 1 November 2012, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s University Greehey Arena. The Private Schools Association of San Antonio (of which we are a members) puts on this fair each year. Given that it is All Saints Day, there is a Mass for those who need to plan for it at Holy Rosary Church (which is directly adjacent to St. Mary’s U) at 5 p.m. Students will attend Mass at school that day. Note: it is a heavily attended event. Plan to arrive at 6:30, when the doors open, to have the best opportunity to see and visit all the colleges desired. Sophomore and Junior families are strongly encouraged to attend.
