•••• Updates for week of 18 October 2012 ••••
Blue & Gold Day on Friday, 19 October! In honor of our cross country team, the volleyball team, and the Debate team’s first meet ever!
Class Rings for junior Class – Monday, 29 October: Matt Grochett from New Braunfels Herff Jones will be on campus to meet with juniors – midday – in order to share class ring information, order forms, and due dates. He will be back then in the middle of November to take orders. Our first year of ordering and delivering went very well with his company and we are pleased to continue the relationship. All juniors will receive packets that day.
Fan Bus: We will have a fan bus running on Saturday, 20 October 2012, out to the Halletsville Sacred Heart football game on Saturday afternoon. It is their homecoming weekend, and so there will be a lot going on on campus, from BBQ plates to tailgating. Go ready to eat! It will be a lot of fun. Our fan bus costs $3 again, and will be leaving JPII at noon.
Weekly schedules upcoming: • Next week: Thursday, 25 October - Mass day with a tour (St. Thomas More and Blessed Sacrament).
Our Celebrant that day will be Fr. David Konderla, Pastor of the Texas A&M St. Mary's Catholic Center. St. Mary's is one of the finest university Catholic centers in the country; is a consistent producer of vocations; has incredible participation rates in Masses, Reconciliation, and retreats; and is a model for similar centers throughout the country. Fr. David will be taking the time to visit with students after Mass, to share his thoughts and experience about being a Catholic at college.
• Thursday, 1 November- All Saints Day (no tour), Mass at 9:15 a.m.
Holy Day of Obligation, Honor Roll presentation that day after Mass
Private School College Fair: The Private Schools of San Antonio College Fair Thursday, 1 November, at St. Mary's University, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Remember that the fair gets very congested by 7:15 p.m. It is best to arrive right at 6:30, to be among the first to enter.
Open House: We will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, 28 October 2012, from 12:30 – 4 p.m. Any parents that can be here to help would be appreciated! We will be having incentives for students to attend.
Homecoming / Founders Week: The committee is putting the final touches on the schedule for the week and hopes to share it with families on Friday. Look for an email soon!

Finally, a special congratulations to our volleyball team, for their work this season and on Tuesday evening. The team has already earned a place in the playoffs, and last Tuesday won a hard-fought match vs. Halletsville Sacred Heart. With that win, the team tied for third place, and tonight (Thursday) has a one game play-off for third place (to determine play-off seeding). The girls have worked very hard to build the program from year one (starting with seven girls), to where it is today!
