Friday night after-game party: We have a home football game this Friday, 26 October 2012, 7:30 p.m. at Clemens High School field; we host Brazos Christian. Following the game, back at the school, we are hosting another after-game party, from 10 p.m. - 11:15 p.m. We will have drinks and popcorn for students.
Volleyball play-off game: Good luck to our Varsity Volleyball Team – they play Houston Southwest Christian in the first round on Tuesday, 23 October 2012. The game is at a neutral site – at a location in between the two schools – the game is being played at Shiner St. Paul’s gym, 6 p.m. Good luck team!
Catholic Life Raffle: Many thanks to the five families that have already sold their 40 tickets! Thanks – and congratulations to our first free dress pass winners, and our first Solidarity team ice cream party winner: St. Sebastian/Dr. Foster. Have you thought about when and where you would sell your tickets?
OPEN House: 12:30 – 4 p.m., Sunday, 28 October. We need some help this week Sunday, in the afternoon. We are working to get student help by opening up the school, and giving them the chance to work on their hallway decorations for Homecoming. We also need parent help, for all or a portion of the afternoon. Call the office to help.
OLPH and Sts. Peter & Paul: Both schools are running a Halloween/Fall Fest this week and are asking for help. On Friday evening, 26 October, OLPH has their Halloween Haunted House and needs volunteers. Contact Mrs. McKinley to volunteer (210-259-9373). On Saturday, Sts. Peter and Paul has their Fall Carnival and needs help with the Haunted House ticket taking, etc. Contact Mr. Bascon to volunteer; there is a sign-up sheet on our front counter.
Mass this week Thursday and next: A reminder that Mass this week is on Thursday, 25 October for our final school tours, with a special celebrant: Fr. David Konderla from Texas A&M St. Mary’s Catholic Center.
Hooded sweatshirt are in: The bookstore is now re-stocked with hooded sweatshirts, $30.
PSAT: Last week Wednesday, the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors took the PSAT. In the past, the results have come in to the school just before Christmas vacation. Once they arrive, we will notify families as to the day those results will be sent home with students.
College applications!: Senior parents! Have your son’s or daughter’s applications gone out yet? We are pleased to say that students have been getting acceptances back already from those completed applications in September. Keep pushing to get those in!
Exams: Second semester exams are scheduled for Wednesday – Friday, 19-21 December. These are early release days, 8:00 – 12:00 p.m., with two exams per day (each exam lasts one and a half hours). Students & parents: good practice is to set aside after the end of the first quarter all the handouts, papers, and returned quizzes, organized by class, so that they can be easily retrieved in December when it is time to start exam studying.
Equestrian club thanks!: A big thank you from the Equestrian Club to all that volunteered and participated in the 2012 Fire Prevention Week Parade in Live Oak on Saturday October 13th. The horses were magnificent, the float was beautiful (decorated by the Mechtel Family) and our Cheer Squad was spectacular! JPII received numerous compliments regarding our entry in the parade.
