MONDAY, 30 January 2012 – PARENT APPRECIATION DAY! Please join us for Pastries with Parents, 8 a.m.! We will begin with a prayer, reading, and blessing in the chapel room, followed by coffee, juice, and pastries for parents and students.
STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN BLUE & GOLD DRESS on Monday, 30 January 2012.
TUESDAY, 31 January 2012 – Student day – Twin day Students can dress up in twin dress with a friend or with a group. Students are asked to keep their dress appropriate for a Catholic school. (Students not in twin dress should be in regular uniform.)
WEDNESDAY, 1 February 2012 – Our ‘Fathers’ Day – Priest appreciation Mass All of our Solidarity groups have been working on cards, gifts, and other appreciations for the priests that have celebrated Masses for us over the past two and a half years. This is the beginning of our annual tradition of recognizing the central and powerful role these men play in the life of our school, making the Sacraments possible for us all. Be sure at Mass this coming weekend to say a special thank you to your priest.
THURSDAY, 2 February 2012 – Student Activities Day and Pep Rally Thursday the dress for students will be Blue & Gold, and they will be allowed to wear their uniforms from athletics and shirts and other dress from any student activity at JPII. So, Pro-Life Club students will be encouraged to wear their shirts, soccer team members can wear their jerseys, etc. Those uniforms in storage will be given out at the start of the day.
PEP RALLY – Our Cheerleaders will be leading us in a pep rally at the close of the day, during afternoon study hall. The Pep Rally will recognize winter activities (among them basketball, swimming, wrestling, cheerleaders, soccer).
FRIDAY, 3 February 2012– Faculty Appreciation Day (NOTE: 2 p.m. dismissal day.) For the last two years, we have run a semi-covert Faculty Appreciation Day, trying to make the day a nice surprise for our teachers. It is hard to do surprises three years in a row, so it is on the official calendar now.
Friday will be our day to recognize teachers and staff for the incredible work that they do in helping to found a new Catholic high school. The STUCO leaders, through their solidarity groups, will be leading the effort to recognize our teachers. The Guardian Parents Group is organizing a nice meal for our teachers that afternoon for the staff meeting.
Dress for students that day will be ULTIMATE BLUE & GOLD Dress.
Friday evening, 3 February 2012– PACK THE GYM Night (at old Corbutt)
All three basketball teams have home games on Friday evening vs. Austin Veritas (JV boys, 5 p.m.; Varsity Girls; 6:15 p.m., Varsity Boys, 7:30). We would like as many to attend as possible! We will run a fan bus for students who need the transportation to the game, leaving the school at 4:30 p.m. Be there!
