This week, Monday, 30 September 2013, we will be observing some special feast days in a powerful way. This Sunday, 29 September is the Feast of St. Michael and the Archangels, and it is the birthday of our good friend Mr. Travis. Wednesday, 2 October is the Feast of the Guardian Angels, our school's mascot and our protection and intercessor each day. For these reasons, and many more, we are going to observe day-long Adoration in our school, in the St. Michael Chapel. We are going to observe quiet in the halls during the day, as a community, since Christ will be present in our school wing in the form of the Eucharist. It will be a way to be mindful of the Adoration. It is a small thing to give up, in faith of the graces that can come from this time in the presence of our Lord and Redeemer.
Students will be able to use part or all of a studyhall to spend time in Adoration. We will begin and end the day with a time of community Adoration in the Guardian Chapel. We are pleased to have Deacon Gorman's help to get the day started, and Deacon Fey will be closing the day for us.
As announced earlier, we will be in Blue & Gold dress with our red Travis shirts. Students who do not have a Travis shirt can wear a regular JPII shirt with the normal Blue & Gold dress.
Parents are welcome to stop by through the day to spend time in Adoration.
We would ask parents to talk with their Guardians about what they might pray about in Adoration, should they spend time there on Monday. Perhaps there is someone in the family for whom to pray, or an intention in their own lives they would like to remember.

For our own JPII Community we can remember in thanksgiving:
• All of our new families this year, that they may continue to know Christ through the JPII Community.
• All of our parents and students who represented our school so well at the Comal Co. Parade, especially our Equestrian Club, the float committee, and the cheerleaders.
• Our volleyball team, JV football team, and varsity football team for their great work last week. Our volleyball team is undefeated in district; our JV team beat TMI 20-18 last week; and our varsity football team is 4-1.
• Our debate team had a great showing in their first meet of the year at MacArthur High School, taking home three top five trophies and three gavels, for excellence in different parts of the meet.
• Our 8th grade visits which start this coming month.
• Mrs. Travis, and her continued strength and peace.
• Our seniors as they continue through the college application process. May they discern God's plan for their lives.
For all these intentions, and many others in our hearts, we will spend a day in prayer. Thank you for your support of this day. We hope we can answer well Christ's question, "Could you not spend one hour with me?"
