Advocacy Day for School Choice in Austin

Our ambassadors traveled to Austin on Tuesday, 24 January 2017 to represent Catholic schools at a School Choice Rally, and visited our area representatives with letters from our parents.

At a rally on the steps of the Capitol, Governor Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick both showed their full and complete support for School Choice, along with many other state leaders.  Two thousand parents, students, and teachers were there in attendance.

Then our ambassadors went into the Capitol to deliver parent letters of support to our area representatives:
Senator Donna Campbell, MD
Representative John Kuempel
Representative Kyle Biedermann

Here is the update to share: the Senate is again fully in support of School Choice.  The House likely has the votes necessary, but the House leadership has yet to commit to bringing School Choice bills up for a vote.  So for those in support of School Choice, it comes down to reaching out to the House Leadership.  More to come!
